Wiradjuri Walking Track

Maintain and upgrade the walking track —$71,944

The Wiradjuri Walking Track is Crown land managed jointly by the department and Wagga Wagga City Council, covering more than 42 kilometres and circling much of the city of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of NSW. It allows walkers, joggers,
mountain bikers and cyclists to explore riverbanks, hilltops and everything in between. Wiradjuri Walking Track

Wiradjuri Reserve is located north of the city centre and has long been utilised by the people of Wagga Wagga as a recreational space for boating, fishing and swimming. The reserve is also a significant location for the Indigenous Wiradjuri people from
the Wagga Wagga area. The reserve served as a traditional Wiradjuri place to gather, camp, fish, swim and as a river crossing place.

As part of the ongoing maintenance program, the department allocated funds through the CRIFP to install a new bridge and to carry out landscaping and remove graffiti as well as regular mowing, weeding and slashing of the track.

This was done in conjunction with the Wiradjuri Walking Track Advisory Group made up of members from council, the department and Local Land Services.

Mick Murphy, State Recreational Trails Coordinator with the department, said that 'one new bridge was constructed and materials have been purchased to install a second bridge next year, which will provide improved and safer creek crossings to visitors along this very popular section of track'.
