COVID-19 response

31 March, 2020 - Alert #3

Additional restrictions to Crown reserves due to COVID-19

The NSW Government is increasing restrictions in the community to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In line with the latest public health order from the NSW Government, more restrictions now apply that impact Crown reserves across NSW.

These restrictions for Crown reserves include:

  • gatherings of more than two people not permitted (exceptions apply)
  • closure of certain premises such as:
    • community facilities (for example community halls, showground pavilions, club houses, schools of arts)
    • galleries, museums
    • caravan parks and camping grounds
    • public swimming pools
    • indoor recreation facilities (for example squash courts, indoor swimming pools, gyms, table tennis centres, health studios, bowling alleys and ice rinks)
    • entertainment facilities (for example theatres, music halls, concert halls and dance halls)

For further details on these restrictions, including any exceptions, please visit the NSW Health website.

All Crown land managers (CLMs) are required to comply with the order.

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (the department) acknowledges the impact of the COVID-19 on CLMs and their roles in managing Crown reserves.

We understand that there will be impacts to the financial viability of reserves due to cancelled events and temporary closures.

The department is here to support CLMs in their role and will provide additional assistance during this challenging time. Should hardship result from the closure of your reserve, please fill in the CLM hardship form. We will then follow up with support as required.

The department will also continue to update CLMs via email alerts with information and additional support in response to COVID-19. This information will also be available on this webpage when it becomes available.
